53 | Video/Action for Saffron City

[As if the Pokémon Centers being destroyed yesterday wasn’t enough chaos, Cobra Commander’s decided to launch an attack of his own today. The video feed displays the entrance to the Saffron City Gym, and no, he didn’t ice over someone’s door again. Instead, a Hyper Beam from somewhere behind the camera blasts the doors open. And if the Gear signal wasn’t enough evidence as to the attacker’s identity, Cobra Commander yelling orders probably is.]

Excellent! Now that the entrance is breached, attack! Attack!

[Several of Cobra’s more loyal Pokémon, like Arbok, Abomasnow, and Skarmory can be seen heading through what’s left of the doors before the feed cuts out.]

{OOC: Network responses will be during the attack, and for action, feel free to confront him either inside the Gym where he’s making a mess of things or while he’s trying to make an escape. Just let me know which one!}

[And it's times like these that Riku's grateful to have come to Saffron for investigative purposes. He caught a glimpse at the mayhem on the back of his trusty Charizard and, while it might be reckless to barge in, you can bet your biscuits that Riku will be charging in with his six most powerful Pokémon.

So what if he's feeling a little dizzy and there are some red patches developing on his skin? He's not about to let that bring him down when there's disaster looming.

So, in comes Riku along with his over-sized Charizard, a Blastoise who uses her water jets to shoot past the group, a Scizor and Lucario rushing along, and a Garchomp and Dragonite at the tail end of the group.

Wat do, Cobra?]

[ A Togekiss flies overhead, lowers, and Xion soon jumps down into the scen of chaos. She immediately gets her Typhlosion and Garchomp out with her while recalling Bell. Looking around, she spots the destroyed entrance to Saffron City's Gym and rushes in. ]

Hey! [ She sees... someone? Someone leading the attack with Pokemon. ] Stop!

[This has been an eventful week. Between that fireworks lunatic in Goldenrod and the Centers being utterly demolished (SOMEHOW), it's all chaos. And being in the middle of it while trying to maintain the last bits of your sanity isn't fun, either. So yes, Crow's already at danger of snapping at someone when a video feed from this guy pops up and sends him over the edge.]

Would you stop that?! No, no one's giving you money, no, no Fly for you and no, you can't have Cianwood! Are you seriously too dumb to get that much?!

[Wat do, indeed. He really wasn’t expecting anyone to show up and disrupt his little attack. But it’s okay, he’s got this.]

You dare to interfere with my assault? Ice-Viper, Razor Leaf! Target that overgrown turtle! The rest of you, ssstay back and continue attacking the Gym for now!

[See? He’s totally got this. As evidenced by Abomasnow sending a barrage of leaves in Blastoise’s direction. Meanwhile, Arbok, Hypno, Pawniard, Skarmory, and Dunsparce are just going to continue creating massive amounts of property damage.]

[It's super effective! Zen definitely takes a hit from the leaves, letting out a frustrated roar. After getting sliced up a bit by the leaves, she ducks into her shell and tries rapid spinning outta the way. The leaves continue to scratch at her defenses, though. This is what she gets for rushing ahead!

But an Abomasnow? Riku just smirks, giving Flare a quick glance. There's no vocal command-- Flare just dashes forward and aims a Flamethrower at Ice-Viper.]

Stop? Why on earth would I do that? I’m just getting started! Sssand-Viper, Ancient Power! Take care of that nuisance!

[At the Commander’s order, Dunsparce begins to throw rocks and other debris in Xion and her Pokémons’ direction.]

[Don't mind him, Crow, he's just going through a pack he took with Thief and seeing if there's anything worth keeping.]

I already have Fly! And I didn't ask for any of that thissss time! This is simply a demonstration!

[ At this point, Xion's method of training with two of her longest standing Pokemon come into play. She doesn't even need to tell them anything: Axel the Typhlosion keeps the Dunsparce busy with a searing burst of flame while Bahamut the Garchomp commences a Swords Dance.

Xion herself is rushing out at Cobra Commander while pulling out a third pokeball and summoning Tiamat, her Hydreigon to aid her against Cobra's other Pokemon. Yup, Xion's going for the man himself. ]

[Curse that 4x weakness towards fire! Abomasnow’s level is high enough to survive, but it clearly took a major hit.]

You’ll pay for that! You’ll pay dearly!

[He’ll take a moment to focus since he’s relatively new at this, but…

Cobra Commander used Torment! If he did it correctly, it should prevent another Flamethrower.]

Go ahead and try that again! I dare you! That is, if you can ssssurvive this next attack! Ice-Viper, Ice Shard!

[And now there’s a chunk of ice being thrown at Charizard. Apparently the strategy of the day is throw things at the enemy until it faints.]

[Gah! Stupid torment. The ice shard knocks Flare back a bit, but he's not outta the game just yet.

Try and block his Flamethrower? Then have some Heat Wave, bub!

While Flare keeps Ice-Viper busy, Riku begins to march forward. He looks back at his other Pokémon, eying his Scizor. Snapping her claws, Blade launches herself forward with a Tailwind, aiming to jab at the Hypno with a nasty X-Scissor!

Riku himself shakes his head.]

So, you're off on a demolition kick, huh?

[... Well, it's certainly good to know you're capable of flying above our heads now. That doesn't make Crow feel any better, but he does make note of that. And since Cobra mentions it, he belatedly realizes there really weren't any ridiculous demands this time...]

... Demonstration of what, your poor thieving skills?

[Because of you want to steal something, there are better ways to get into a building than blowing up the main entrance. Honest.]

Sand-Viper, Rollout! Arbok, Gunk Shot that Garchomp! Strato-Viper!

[Okay, he’s not really sure what that Hydreigon thing is, but this should work, hopefully. ]

Strato-Viper, use Air Cutter! Target that, whatever that is! There’s no way it can ssstand up to an Air Cutter! It’ll be sssliced to pieces!

[Cobra Commander used Snarl, and tried to decrease Hydreigon’s Special Attack!]

Sssomething like that.

[It’s a one hit KO! Hypno faints!]

What? That’s completely unacceptable! If your trainer was ssstill in Johto, I’d give them a piece of my mind about this complete and utter failure! I’d-

[Oh wait. Ice-Viper’s on fire. That’s not good.]

Also unacceptable! Slice! Use Psycho Cut while I use this Full Restore on Ice-Viper! Target that brat!

[The good news? Pawniard’s only level 27. The bad news? There’s psychic blades heading for Riku. Enjoy.]

Demonstration of what I and my highly trained Pokemon can accomplish! Anything I bother to take from these idiots is merely a bonus!

[And since there's nothing of use in that pack, he'll toss it aside for now.]

[To say that Riku wasn't expecting the sudden psycic blades would be an understatement. While he tries his best to dodge, he winds up getting sliced in the side and landing on the ground. Immediately, Blade rushes over to his side, letting out an obnoxious hiss. She launches a Vacuum Wave in angry retaliation, pumping her fists in the air. Nobody hurts her trainer and gets away with it!

Flare rears back his head and readies himself for the most potent fire attack of all: Blast Burn. He knows he'll have to recharge after this, but it's worth it if he can knock out that pest once and for all!

Eventually, Riku gets back on his feet, clutching onto the area where the Psycho Cut hit.]

That was almost clever.

[And it's about this time that Zen shoots out in front of him and crouches down. She's still worn out from the Razor Leaf, but she'll use whatever strength she's got to act as a shield for Riku.]

[Given the level difference, that Vaccum Wave’s more than enough to drop Pawniard. That Blast Burn’s more than enough to KO Ice-Viper though, so Cobra’s going to try and use Quash to change the move’s priority, not that he’s entirely sure what he’s doing.]

Ice-Viper! Use Razor Leaf again! Hurry! Target his Blassstoise! Remove that shield at once!

[And there’s another round of leaves fired at Blastoise just before Blast Burn hits and faints Abomasnow.]

[Zen's eyes widen. The leaves cut her up some more, leaving her just dangling by a thread. With not much else to do, she ducks into her shell with Iron Defense.

Flare, in the mean time, is forced to recharge. For a moment, he just stands there, completely still.

Heaving a sigh, Riku climbs on top of Zen's back. She doesn't have much health left-- doing this will probably knock her outta the game, but...]

You know what to do.

[Zen nods, and she once again rockets forward, pulling off a Double-Edge. This time, it's aimed directly at Cobra. If he wants to avoid getting hit, he'll want to hurry and get outta the way!

Either way, Zen's out after this attack thanks to recoil. Consider it a last resort!]

[Is that aimed at him?

Oh no, it is!

Better think fast!]

Slice! Protect!

[Oh wait, Pawniard’s unconscious.

Um.

Looks like there’s nothing he can do in time to stop that.

And Cobra Commander gets tackled!]

Argh! You dare attack me? Me?

[He can’t believe that someone would use his own strategy against him! And that really hurt!]

You won’t get away with thisss! Now that your shield is down, Sand-Viper, use Ancient Power! Target everything you can! A.S.P., follow that up with a Hyper Beam! Target Charizard!

[Rocks and lasers incoming.]

That's right. Thought you'd like a taste of your own--

[Oh crap, Flare's being targeted! And that's his favorite Pokémon. For a moment, Riku's completely silent. He hopes down from his fainted Blastoise, sends her back into her ball and looks back at his remaining Pokémon.

Flare, in the mean time, takes the hit of the rock attack, which sends him backwards and deals heavy damage. When hyper beam comes flying his way, though, he pulls a last-minute Protect.

Still, he's definitely taken some serious damage from the Ancient Power. Muttering under his breath, Riku tosses his dragon a Hyper Potion. That'll at least cover him until he has time to Roost.

But now that the Abomasnow's outta the way, Riku's Garchomp launches himself into battle... and whips up a sandstorm. It'll deal damage to everyone that isn't a rock, steel, or ground type (even allies!), but he doesn't really care. It's all about upping his evasion, man!

Ace the Lucario is invulnerable, though, and rushes on ahead, aiming an Aura Sphere at Sand Viper.]

How dare you heal that thing!

[But he’ll try and use Embargo to keep that from happening again.]

And how dare you create thissss sandstorm!

[Aura Sphere blasts Dunsparce. There’s nothing he can really do about that one. Arbok’s recharging, so he can’t use that either.]

Sssand-Viper! Dig! It can’t hit you if you’re under the ground! Sskarmory! Get out here! Now! Use Air Cutter! Focus on that Garchomp! Hit that Charizard too! Let’s see how you handle that!

[...Wait, where did that Embargo even come from? It couldn't have been Cobra, right? And, come to think of it, all these dark type moves seem a bit odd given the Pokémon on-hand. Something's a little fishy here. As a sort of test, Riku's gonna pull out his wooden Keyblade and attempt to smack Cobra from the side.

Well, with Sand Viper underground, there's not a whole lot Quake can do. Rather than worry about the Dunsparce, he changes gears. After taking the hit from the Air Cutter, he attempts a Fire Fang on Skarmory. Blade the Scizor takes this time to do some buffing, utilizing Swords Dance and Iron Defense, while Flare, after taking the hit, spews a horrible Smokescreen.

Ace hurriedly Magnet Rises herself above the ground, while Draco plants a Substitute. Looks like Riku's team is shifting gears a little.]

[Sand-Viper can’t stay underground forever, so it’s going to surface right under the Scizor of Riku’s. A.S.P., the Arbok is recharged and attempting to Glare through that Smokescreen. Strato-Viper is going to attempt to retaliate with Air Slash on the substitute, and Cobra Commander is about to get smacked with a giant…is that a key?]

What on earth do you think you’re doi-

[Okay a giant wooden key to the side hurts. But it leaves a wonderful opening to try and retaliate with a very obvious Payback from Cobra Commander, who is definitely not a Pokémon.]

Take that, you brat!

[Blade takes the hit! Fortunately for her, she's sturdy enough to withstand it and immediately retaliates with Superpower. Ace, in the mean time, shifts gears to perform a Zen Headbutt on A.S.P.

Quake performs Swords Dance to up his game a little, while Draco's substitute takes considerable damage. Poof! However, he soon launches a Thunder Wave-- he doesn't even care what it hits, really!

Flare remains in the back, utilizing Double Team to boost his evasion a bit. The stand nails him, but if he takes too much heat, he can always Roost!

As for Riku-- the Payback sends him down to the ground with a pained gasp. The attack definitely confirmed his prediction, though... And he soon launches himself feet-first at the Commander again.]

_{[Wow what the hell is someone nearly running over him for.]

[... and why are those VERY MANY pokémon following him, and why is he coming straight from the Gym that is now a conspicious mess--]

[oh.]

[- oh, shit. What?]}

Whoa- whoa, hey, what the hell!

_{[...really not sure if wanting to stop this guy or just get out of his way, but either way, that is warranted.]}

[Dunsparce is definitely in need of healing after that attack. Arbok’s paralyzed. Might be time to start considering a strategic retreat.

Cobra scrambles away from Riku’s feet and starts running for Abomasnow. Hopefully, he can revive it in time to launch a counterattack. ]

Strato-Viper! Cover me! Use ssssomething to distract him! Slash him! Yess, do that! Arbok! Hyper Beam! Target the Garchomp! Sand-Viper! I don’t have time to heal you, so use Roost!

[He’s starting to get a bit desperate here since he really wasn’t prepared for all the level 100s to show up today.]
